Jen (she/her)
birth + postpartum doula
Jen is a DONA (Doulas of North America) trained birth and postpartum doula. Her friends would describe her as intuitive and passionate. She loves to spend her time outside of birth work reading suspense novels, teaching herself to paint, and spending time with her family and her cats. Jen is an introvert, but is always up for a conversation when it comes to birth (or cats!) Jen’s interest in doula work was sparked after her first birth, which was a textbook hospital birth. Despite having close family members there (and to no fault of their own), she felt unsupported and overall unfulfilled. As she learned more about the role of a doula she became passionate about offering the emotional, physical, and informational support that she so needed at her first birth. For her second birth she had a doula, and that experience further instilled in her that being supported in birth can positively impact a person and how they see themselves throughout their life.
Jen’s passion for supporting new parents during the postpartum time came about when she saw the lack of support our society offers new parents. She works hard to bring a sense of calm, groundedness, and knowledge to all of her postpartum clients. Whether she’s working a daytime shift or overnight, she just loves knowing that she’s helping new parents to get some rest, allow their anxieties to settle a bit, and gain more confidence and skills as they ease into parenthood.
Jen provides inclusive care for all families, and honors who her clients are as unique individuals with their own unique preferences. The intuition of birthing people is powerful, especially during this time of creation. While some things may drown out that inner knowing, she works to empower her clients to trust that they are the expert on their bodies and babies in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
